Surabaya (28 November 2023) – With the spirit of going green, PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS), which is a sub-holding of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP), succeeded in planting its 1,000th tree, right on the occasion of Indonesian Tree Planting Day (HMPI).

A total of 200 tree seedlings were planted by TPS at the HMPI commemoration, consisting of 120 tree seedlings that had been planted in the TPS area which is located near the domestic gate and 80 tree seedlings were planted in two villages supported by TPS, namely in RT 09 and RT 08 RW 03, West Perak Village, Krembangan District, Surabaya. RT 09 Perak Barat Subdistrict, succeeded in winning First Place in the Village Arrangement competition in the context of Pelindo's anniversary, which was held within the SPTP Group environment.

The tree seeds planted by TPS this time are productive tree species, including Crystal Guava, Avocado, Longan and Orange.

Wahyu Widodo as Main Director said that the implementation of tree planting was a real action in preserving the environment. This is the company's commitment to implementing the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program on the pillars of environmental conservation and management in order to maintain environmental sustainability in line with the company's green port program.

Wahyu added that in running its business, TPS is based on 3 aspects, namely commercial/economic, environmental and social, and these three aspects must be balanced for the sustainability of TPS and the realization of a sustainable port.

"I feel happy, TPS can continue to plant trees as a real action in creating an environmentally friendly port, and this year TPS has achieved its 1,000th tree planting," said Wahyu Widodo.

Each tree planted is given the number and name of the employee who planted it, and this aims to ensure that TPS workers or what are usually called TPS Familia, have a responsibility to help green their work environment and to form the character of workers who care about the environment.

This action to plant 1000 trees is part of TPS's participation efforts in reducing the impact of global warming which indirectly contributes to society, and has started in August 2022 and currently 988 tree seedlings have been planted.

So this planting succeeded in increasing the number of trees planted at TPS to 1188 trees, exceeding the target of 1000 trees in 2023.

"Planting is easy, but what is difficult is caring for it, let's commit so that this program remains sustainable," Wahyu advised TPS workers.

Apart from having a work program to plant 1000 trees, TPS is also improving the Green Open Space or RTH around the TPS area. To date, green open space itself has reached an area of 130,410 m2 in the TPS area or 21.4% of the overall Terminal area, namely 610,000 m2, so that it has fulfilled the Evaluation Matrix for the Environmental Management Plan (RKL) and Environmental Monitoring Plan (RPL) for Tanjung Perak Port in In 2023, it is mandatory to have green open space of 10% of the terminal area.

Several green open space points at TPS include: X-Ray Area to UV Block, Export Gate to X-Ray, Gudang Supplies Park, SS IV Park, Sono Garden & Park, Tg. Mutiara Park, Import Gate Park, EA Import Park, Roundabout Park Toll Roads, and Mangrove Areas.
